The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Dunham speaks to the work Hillary Clinton has done for survivors of sexual assault.

"Here is your change to join team Hillary," Ferrera said. "Let's forcefully reject division."

They leave the stage to chants of, "Love trumps hate!"

Another short video about equal pay, paid family leave and affordable child care is playing in the arena.

Steve Benjamin, the mayor of Columbia, South Carolina, walks onto the stage to chants of "We love, Steve!" from the South Carolina delegation.
