The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, is citing examples of Hillary Clinton's support on women's rights and issues.

"This isn't just about electing the first woman president, it's about electing this woman president.," Richards said.

Actresses Lena Dunham and America Ferrera start their speech with how Republican nominee would define them.

"He would have you believe our differences are more important than what unites us," Dunham said.
