LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

update

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Following video on social justice work, former Attorney General Eric Holder is on stage. Says Hillary Clinton is ready to lead this already great nation.

"Already great nation -- Donald, did you hear me? -- already great nation," Holder says, referencing the dark image Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump painted of the U.S. last week.

"When one in three black men will be incarcerated in their lifetimes" ... we need a president who will end this, Holder says.

Holder reminds delegates that Hillary Clinton used one of her first campaign speeches to lay out her plan for social justice reform.
