LIVE BLOG: Clinton Becomes First Woman Nominated for President

update

The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

The congresswomen are speaking to all topics: small-business owners, the economy, clean energy, health care, support for veterans, gun controls.

Former Orlando police chief Val Demings, who is running for congress and is the final speaker among the female legislators, gets the crowd to cheer when speaking about gun violence and gun control issues.

Another short video of "Trump's Own Words," this one plays his criticism of Sen. John McCain, who was held prisoner during the Vietnam War.
