The Democratic Party made it official Tuesday, naming Hillary Clinton their candidate for president in 2016 – and making history by selecting the first woman to represent a major U.S. political party. Following the roll call vote, Tuesday's speakers included former President Bill Clinton as well as the Mothers of the Movement -- the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Sandra Bland and other young black victims of violence.

Kentucky, the home state of Muhammad Ali, the greatest heavyweight boxer in history, casts 33 votes for Clinton and 27 votes for Sanders.

Democratic National Convention roll call vote tally so far:

Hillary Clinton: 1092

Bernie Sanders: 686

Needed to win: 2382​

Kansas -- home to Ann Durham, President Barack Obama's mother -- 23 votes for Sanders and 14 votes for Clinton. That vote for Clinton brings cheers in the vicinity.

Iowa, which boasts a history of first for women, casts 30 votes for Clinton and 21 votes for Sanders.
